Day One: I’m up for challenges! But this one? My job is to build a ham for Winnie’s 6th grade Christmas play: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. A Ham for the Herdman’s to give to the baby Jesus. I walked and PRAYED into Lowes to buy insulation foam … When … I noticed this striking yellow hard hat! The most beautiful “ham-form” I have ever seen!! If this was a movie, the beautiful hard hat would have turn into a nice roasted ham on a beautiful Christmas platter. Only this ham is going to be roasted in paper mâché, felt pineapples, and styrofoam cherries! No cooking required!
Day Two: The HAM is finished! We may have not had dinner last night, but we had a beautiful HARD HAT HAM to stare at! Thank you Lord for pulling through!

Winnie was not thinking it was going so well – “Um, Mom, I’m very concerned. This looks like a painted hard hat with squares on top.” I said,”Oh, Winnie – it’s not complete!”
Being the creator of “the ham,” I could picture in my mind the end result!

God can, too! He sees the end result!! Even when we think our life is a mess and not going so well, He’s got the vision. We just need to let the Master Creator do what He does best – create.
“In the beginning, God CREATED …” Genesis 1:1
How COOL is that? Five words in, and we get the word create!
If God can make a hard hat into a ham, He can make whatever hard circumstance you are going through right now into something hopeful. Give The Lord your situation this Christmas and with faith, press on and watch for His awesome plan to unfold. We, too, are not complete until we hand our lives over to the Creator. He’s got the vision!
Day Three: Winnie was Gladys in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. A perfect role for such a spirited kid! She had the Sha-Zam, a red cape, and was the perfect Angel of the Lord!

The ham was a hit! I’m so proud of Riverside Presbyterian Day School and @Brian Roes! I was also thrilled for all my 6th grade Bible study girls!! You played your role so well! This Christmas has been filled with lots of “Sha-Zam!” I mean Sha-zHAM!”
What’s in store for the ham? I am thinking of converting it back to a hard hat … A ham hat! Oh, good Lord!IMG_2045 IMG_2039
Thank You Lord, for a beautiful Herdman Ham. I know Baby Jesus is happy with His Christmas Gift. Who needs gold anyway. IMG_2050
