Who me? Do you really think I’m guilty? This is our dog Phinney who clearly got into the trash this morning! Busted. As I was taking this picture, I was jolted by the fact that God sees my hiccups everyday. I try to hide them so well. How about you? What are you trying to hide from God that He sees so clearly? A relationship? A bad grade? An unhealthy habit? An anger issue? A “too-busy” attitude? A hidden agenda?
Psalm 32:5 says:
“Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin.”
God is faithful to forgive. Always. We just have to confess. (He sees it all anyway!)
1 John 1:9 says:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Notice the word . . . all. Not just some of our sins. All of them.
This Easter- let’s celebrate Romans 5:8:
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners (NLT).”
Jesus died for you and for me … even when our guilt is as obvious as a Chiquita banana sticker on our nose! Praise God for His everlasting love!
Dear Lord, thank You for teaching me today that even though I try to hide the broken areas of my life, Your great LOVE for me covers my sin. Thank You for reminding me that it is only because of Jesus that You have purified me from unrighteosness ~ i.e. sticking my nose in trash piles. Thank You for Your complete and everlasting forgiveness. Continue to search me and know my heart. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me the way everlasting (Psalm 139:23-24). Give me a renewed spirit to celebrate this Easter with fresh eyes and ears. Praise You! Amen.
