Simone Biles touched the balance beam.

The world gasped as her entire routine was remembered by this single moment. The question is: Will we remember her winning a bronze medal, or will we remember her touching the beam? Why do we do this to ourselves? ALL-THE-TIME. Why do we single out the times where we have “touched the beam” and act as if God is deducting points from our score?
Just this week I “touched the beam” and had to apologize to my daughter for being over critical. Ouch. My tendency is to single out and remember the times where I get off balance. How about you?

NOTE TO SELF: My performance here on earth has nothing to do with my score in heaven.

My salvation is sealed through my faith in Christ and His death on the cross. Christ sets me free from sin and empowers me with abundant life and gives me a perfect score. Every time. Even when I touch the beam.
Today, walk in the freedom that GRACE abounds. Christ sets us free from past mistakes, failures, and set backs. Today, walk with confidence knowing that it is not because of who you are or what you’ve done but because of who Jesus IS and what HE HAS DONE. Focus not on getting off balance but on the GOLD – the ultimate prize of eternal life.
And just for the record, Simone, I will always remember your GOLD! You are such an inspiration!
If you love to look up Scripture, like me, write down the following verses and answer the questions.
• James 4:6-7
What does MORE GRACE look like in your life?
How can you flee from thoughts and past actions that hold you captive and humble yourself before God KNOWING His offer of extravagant grace?
• Psalm 103:11-13
How far has God removed our “balance beam touches” when we place our faith in Christ? How far is east from the west? Think about this one! WOW.
• Philippians 3:13-14
We cannot dwell on past mistakes because we are called to press on. How will you press forward today knowing that you are completely forgiven?

I like to think “life is learning experience” and we are ” works in progress ” giuded by God’s goodness and grace. It doesn’t get much better than that! LET GO AND LET GOD!

CLARIFICATION: I like to think “life is a learning experience” and we are “works in progress” guided by God’s goodness and grace. It doesn’t get much better than that! LET GO AND LET GOD!
