Jesus’ toolbox. Which tool do you need today?

I just finished drilling 160 holes in blocks preparing for the next two weeks of Art Camp and my mind moves forward to these precious girls. I’m praying specifically that the “holes” in their hearts will be filled with God’s Word and not the wisdom from this world. We can be so good at merely checking off the “Christian Box” by going to church or even Art Camp for that matter. But my goal in writing these Bible Studies is more than checking off a box or looking the part at being a “good Christian”- my desire is that girls will come to know Jesus and are equipped with Word of God, the tools needed to deal with the real emotions they face.
The In and Out Cafe: Jealousy is NOT on the Menu, deals with the reality that we will have jealousy, and we will be tempted to lie to cover up the truth. We will face arguments and deception, as well as revenge. The question is – what do we do with that? I wish I could tell you I’ve never lied, compared myself to others, or wanted revenge. But this would be untrue. The reality is, I need the tools (aka Scripture) Jesus provides to steer me away from jealousy. I need:
A phillips-head screwdriver to unscrew my jealous thoughts. “Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word.” Psalm 119:37 (NLT)
A drill to break through my stubborn and selfish heart. “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.” Philippians 2:3 (NLT)
While we are at it, let’s just bring out the chainsaw!
I love this Bible Study because it teaches us the truth: jealousy is not on the menu because Jesus is. No matter what situation you are dealing with, Jesus is waiting with His love and grace to forgive and empower. Which tool do you need today?
In Christ and Creativity,
