03 Mar Valentines at the Sanctuary on 8th Street
I love Valentines Day.
My FAVORITE story goes back to college when all THREE of my college roomates got roses, that is, except for me. I even added to my sorrow by having my very own FULL DAY pity party. However, the next morning, what did appear at my doorstep but TWO beautiful bouquets of flowers! One was from an anynomous admirer and the other was from Henry, Theadore, George, Herman, Willy, Bob and of course, DAD.
My sweet father loved me enough to send me an amazing arrangement of flowers because he knew his little girl felt a little lonely. He was even compelled to add a few extra names!
Oh…how I love my Dad.
And, I love my heavenly Dad too.
I know Valentines Day only comes once a year, but really, we should celebrate God’s LOVE for us everyday! Every morning, we should see the Bible as a beautiful bouquet of roses just waiting for us to take delight in.
Did you know that God takes DELIGHT in us?
Psalm 149:4 says, “For the LORD takes DELIGHT in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation.”
Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Can you even imagine that GOD, who created the heavens and the earth, takes DELIGHT in us! And, an extra promise is that when we DELIGHT in HIM, He gives us the desires of our hearts! Now THAT is the BEST VALENTINE anyone could get!
And to note: 5 years later, I did discover who my “secret admirer” was. My roomate’s DAD! No more pity parties for me!
Below are some pictures from Valentines Day at the Sanctuary on 8th Street. Our Church celebrated with the kids and I was in charge of the art project, imagine that! This was super easy and the kids loved it! We ordered the wooden flower picture frames from Oriental Trading and with the help of paint, glitter and rhinestones, we were on our way to a wonderful piece of art!
